As part of Joburg Ballet’s Spring Season at the Joburg Theatre from 28 August to 13 September 2015, which also includes Don Quixote and Celebration 7, Gauteng Opera will be presenting their Double Bill: Opera Classics and I Am An African, on 29 August and 10 September. This initiative is another example of Joburg Ballet’s desire to collaborate with other arts enterprises and to provide the greatest possible variety for its audiences.
These shows will be a celebration of the operatic voice through a selection of some of much-loved arias and ensembles, performed by Gauteng Opera soloists and guest artists.

July will see Joburg Ballet’s CEO, Dirk Badenhorst, and artistic director, Iain MacDonald, on opposite sides of the world fulfilling teaching obligations and judging at international ballet competitions.
Artistic director Iain MacDonald has accepted an invitation to again teach at the annual Summer School of the American Academy of Ballet in New York where he has been on the teaching faculty for several years.
Founded by the late Mignon Furman, the distinguished SA-born ballet teacher, the Summer School attracts an impressive roster of teachers from the USA and abroad as well as young dancers from America as well as from ballet schools outside the USA.
Mr MacDonald will also visit London to meet with choreographers.
