This training facility for dancers is headed on a rotating basis by visiting ballet teachers from the National Ballet School of Cuba, assisted by Cuban dancers working with Joburg Ballet as well as South African dancers with JB who are being trained in the Cuban ballet method. The SA Cuban Ballet School was initiated in 2012 . The internationally respected Cuban ballet training system has produced many acclaimed dancers and these dancers often appear as guest artists in JB productions.
The Joburg Ballet School offers three levels of tuition and it is envisaged that this training initiative will develop into a fully-fledged vocational school feeding dancers into the professional Joburg Ballet company, and a South African centre of excellence for preparing dancers for professional stage.
