Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ruan Galdino began his ballet studies in 2005 at “Setor de Atividades Fisicas e Culturais do Colegio Pedro II – SAAC”. Noteworthy teachers in his training include Ana Palmieri, Romulo Ramos, Victor Ciattei and Paulo Melgaço from Brazil as well as Vadim Germanovich, Piotr Rusanov, Maria Wakhrusheva and Veronika Pyzhikova in Brazil from Russia.
Ruan won a scholarship in “Studio de Dança Com-Passos, RJ”. He studied for four years at the “Escola Estadual de Dança Maria Olenewa – Foundation of the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro”. Following that, he was awarded a two-year scholarship at the American Academy of Ballet in New York. He consolidated its artistic formation in “BALLETARRJ Young Company” where he was a Soloist in 2014 and 2015.
As a young dancer he won awards in National Competitions in Brazil including “Dancer Revelation,” “Featured Dancer”, “Dancer Incentive Dance” and “Best Dancer”.
Ruan was a solo participant in the New York finals of the “Youth America Grand Prix” in 2015. He was also a solo participant in the “World Ballet Competition” held in Orlando, Florida in 2014 and was a semi-finalist in the Professional Category for 2015. He was then invited as a soloist by Director Ruslan Nurtinov to perform in Russia with “Black Swan” at R&A – International Production, in December 2015. Upon invitation by Artistic Director Iain McDonald to dance with the Joburg Ballet in September 2015, Ruan joined the company as an Ad Hoc dancer.
His repertoire includes roles in shows at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro: Opera Romeo and Juliet (2010), The Nutcracker (2011-2012), Coppélia (2012), Opera Aida (2013) and The Rite of Spring (2013). He participated as a soloist in “Le Corsaire” (2011) and The Pharaoh’s Daughter (2013) in EEDMO. In BALLETARRJ he danced the Diana and Actaeon pas de deux, Flames of Paris pas de deux, and Le Corsaire Pas d’Esclave.
At Joburg Ballet he has danced the grand pas de deux Flower Festival at Genzano and will join the company as a member of the corpse de ballet in 2016.
